Jabuti Theatre presents
My City
My City tells the story of two lost souls; Soledad and Eibhleann. One only speaks Spanish and the other only Gaelic. Although they don’t speak the same language, they tell each other fantastical, inspirational stories using simply their own bodies, music and any object that they can find.
Soledad has been the guardian of the only tree left in a world full of rubbish for as long as she can remember. Her lonely life of order and rituals is one day disrupted by the arrival of chaotic Eibhleann; a travelling collector of stories who has long forgotten her own roots. Soledad would like to ask her to leave, but Eibhleann doesn’t seem to be able to understand anything she says…
My City is a 45-minute, new visual theatre production for ages 5+ and their families. It tells the story of two lost souls; one who only speaks Spanish and the other only Gaelic. Watch the full trailer here.
Using music, puppetry and dance they overcome their language barrier and tell each other fantastical, inspirational stories of their adventures and their pasts. My City explores themes of communication and promotes environmental awareness. It is set to live music and features both Gaelic and Spanish languages.
We offer a workshop accompanying each performance that allows the children to create puppets and musical instruments from recycled objects, emphasising the importance of reuse and recycling.
